What’s an Italian to bring to a Fourth of July BBQ? This, and all the fun, of course.
I call it my American Flag Strawberry Tiramisu, a classic Italian dessert dressed up for the occasion. Instead of espresso, the ladyfingers soak up a bright, sweet syrup made from macerated strawberries, lemon, and a splash of limoncello. Layered with a silky mascarpone cream and topped with a cloud of whipped cream, sliced strawberries, and blueberries arranged into stars and stripes, it’s as fun to make as it is to eat.
It takes a little patience, a few hours in the fridge to set, but almost no effort, which makes it the easiest showstopper you’ll bring to the table this year. Buon appetito, and happy Fourth!
